The Nora Navra branch of the New Orleans Public Library (NOPL) was one of the six NOPL branches damaged beyond repair after Hurricane Katrina made landfall and the federal levee collapsed in 2005, and though it is the last to reopen, its grand reopening on August 18 will not be the least. At 7,800 square feet, the new library is three times the size of the original library, which opened in 1950.

Mayor LaToya Cantrell, along with other city officials, will be on site for a ribbon cutting ceremony from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Following the opening, the library will be open Monday through Saturday and is located at 1902 St. Bernard Avenue.
