This Thanksgiving at Boulevard American Bistro, One Fork = One Meal, making a significant impact on the lives of senior citizens in Jefferson Parish, while raising awareness of food insecurity in the aging population. The One Fork = One Meal promotion places one special holiday fork on each table, representing one meal Boulevard American Bistro will donate to the Jefferson Council on Aging (JCOA) Home Delivered Meals Program this holiday season.
In 2017, nearly a third of Louisiana residents 60 and over received food stamps and 32% of senior households had an income of less than $20,000 per year. “With rising food and healthcare costs our most vulnerable citizens are finding themselves in dire straits,” states Robert Hardie, Partner, Boulevard American Bistro and Area Director, Creole Cuisine Restaurant Concepts. “We are committed to giving back to our community, especially to those citizens that have come before us and paved the way in so many ways. We are very pleased to be able to provide these meals to the Jefferson Council on Aging Home delivered meals.” In 2017, the JCOA Home Delivered Meals program served 190,000 meals to 1,100 participants.
The JCOA is responsible for planning, organizing, and offering a comprehensive set of programs and services for improving the quality of life of Jefferson Parish’s 60+ year old seniors. Its mission is to assist the senior citizens of Jefferson Parish to age with dignity and independence in the place and manner of their choice. JCOA’s services include: ADRC (aging and disability resource center), care management services, nutrition services, transportation services, 10 senior centers and senior employment services.
