The salty water, rough, sandy shores, and Gulf breezes are what most Louisianians know of when we take a visit to our next-door neighbors’ beaches. It’s what we Gulf Coast dwellers do for the summer, since Lincoln Beach and Pontchartrain Beach are no longer available to us. What might make your usual trip more memorable, though, is an air show performed by the famous U.S. Navy Blue Angels.
For two days, July 21-22 (Saturday and Sunday), from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the aircrafts will showcase numerous aircraft, like the U.S. Army’s Golden Knights parachutes, and aerial stunts over the Mississippi Sound. Though the event will be based at “Great Lawn” at Harrah's Gulf Coast Casino, an estimated 100,000 spectators will stretch across the two-miles-long coastline. A perfect place to spend a summer weekend getaway—with no need to grill because food trucks and concessions will be open at 9 a.m. each day and available at Great Lawn. And if seeing the Blue Angels solo performance interests you, they’ll be performing the weekend of July 14-15, at the Pensacola Beach Air Show, their base home (Naval Air Station in Pensacola). Whether you go this weekend or next, just make sure you got a good view.
