Black Restaurant Week Marks its Second Year in New Orleans July 1-8

11:08 June 28, 2018
Two years after its founding in Houston, Texas, Black Restaurant Week (BRW) has made its way to New Orleans! Created to build awareness and support for black-owned businesses, the weeklong celebration will focus on African, African-American, and Caribbean cuisine through dining specials at participating restaurants, along with Nosh, a culinary showcase.

When you dine in at any of the following restaurants, you can request a special BRW menu that’ll range from $15 to $45 (depending on the restaurant): The Praline Connection, Neyow's Creole Cafe, Morrow's, Louisiana Bayou Bistro, Beaucoup Eats, Tasty Treat Food Truck and Restaurant, Heard Dat Kitchen, We Dat's Chicken & Shrimp,  Sassafras Creole Kitchen, Pra_Lees, Blaze Bistro, and Cafe Porche & Snowbar.

The Nosh Culinary Showcase will take place Thursday, July 5 from 6 to 10 PM and will feature local Black chefs, caterers, and bartenders at tasting stations, chef demos, and Power of the Palette, a bartending competition. Tickets begin at $50 and can be purchased at nolabrw.com

A portion of the proceeds from BRW will go to F.A.R.M.S., a nonprofit that supports farmers of color.
