Always the confidence booster, Big Freedia returns with a song that has bingo players grooving in their chairs, beachgoers striking poses in the sand, and audience members braving the artist’s stage for their own “showtime.”

“Karaoke” is the latest single from Big Freedia’s 2018 EP 3rd Ward Bounce. The bounce song features alternative hip hop and R&B artist Lizzo, who belts out the soulful and powerful chorus: “If you live this loud, show it, show it, show it!” The collab is well-suited, especially when one considers Lizzo’s viral hit song “Good as Hell,” another uplifting and fun anthem for those who know how good it feels to let go of worries once their hair and nails are catered to.

In the music video, directed by New Orleans native filmmakers Zac Manuel and Chris Haney (also known for directing Big Freedia’s “Rent” music video) and produced by Lily Keber (Bayou Maharajah), the beach, a bingo hall, and The World Famous Cat’s Meow (701 Bourbon St.) are depicted as summer spots for embracing fun and joy and, most importantly, bouncing.

Big Freedia, joined by New Orleans natives Tank & The Bangas and the Naughty Professor jazz-funk band, will be spreading the culture through the co-headlined “Head Banga Tour,” set to kick off in October in Washington D.C.

With Drake sampling bounce artists and producers, but barely showing them in either of his almost 290 million-combined-viewed “Nice for What” and “In My Feelings” YouTube videos, now would be a good time to show some love for original New Orleans artists.
