Every year for Christmas and Mardi Gras, The Galatoire Foundation and Galatoire's Restaurant host an auction to support local nonprofit organizations. With the effects of COVID-19, it is crucial to show support for local nonprofits and businesses. This year's Christmas auction will be held at the newest Galatoire's Restaurant, Galerie de Galatoire, on Tuesday, December 8. The nonprofits who are benefiting from the donations this year will be Kingsley House, STAIR, Grace at the Greenlight, and The Galatoire Foundation.
Melvin Rodrigue, the president of The Galatoire Foundation, stated, "We recognize that the auction will look a little different this year. The funds raised this year are more vital than they've ever been. Our industry has been hit hard, and we know nonprofits face the same uncertainties. We hope by moving forward with the auction, funds raised will help sustain our recipients' operations."
The foundation will be following COVID-19 safety guidelines, having guests stay seated for the action and the hors d'oeuvres already at the tables. An auction paddle is $50. This admits two guests and includes drinks and hors d'oeuvres. An attendance ticket is $25; this does not include a paddle to bid, but it includes sparkling wine and hors d'oeuvres. Tickets can be purchased here.
Since 2006, the Christmas and Mardi Gras auctions have raised over $2.2 million for local charities. The auctions have benefitted almost two dozen New Orleans area foundations and organizations. The Galatoire Foundation is dedicated to giving back to the New Orleans community. Join the foundation from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. on December 8 for some great auction items for a great cause.
