Known for its gardens, art museum, sculptures, and various attractions, City Park is also home to a 24-hour coffee and beignet cafe. The casino building, once home to Morning Call, will now operate as the New Orleans French Quarter classic, Café du Monde. In early April, City Park placed a request for proposal for a restaurant specializing in coffee and beignets to operate out of the building for 10 years. The three beignet titans, Morning Call,  Café du Monde, and Café Beignet all placed a proposal with the park.

For fans of the nearly 150-year-old company Morning Call, their future is uncertain. Earlier, they closed their Metairie location due to a rent increase. Currently, they have no other locations.

Regardless, if Morning Call was your weekend coffee destination, you can still enjoy a cup of joe at Café du Monde when they open. Perhaps you'll even be able to avoid the often long lines at their historic French Quarter destination.
