BABs Showcases New Italian-Inspired Bites

A Night at BABs

BABs (formerly referred to as Bywater American Bistro), which is Chef Nina Compton's neighborhood venture, opened to high excitement in 2018 and it continues to surprise and delight with more Italian-inspired home-cooked favorites along with exciting cocktails that locals will love and tourists will seek out. At an intimate gathering, Chef Nina showed off her new small bites that started off with warm green olives spiced with chili and rosemary, which paired so well with the Chimera Martini. This delicate drink was like a garden in a glass: herbal gin and infusions of basil, thyme, and sage. It was truly one of the best cocktails I've ever tried!

Plump Pork Meatballs in a great sauce, a mouth-watering Ricotta Tart drizzled with hazelnut honey, and savory Blackened Octopus made people stop in their tracks. Of course, Chef Nina is renowned for her award-winning cuisine, but these small bites were so stunning that you could make a whole meal with them. Even the burrata was made unique with marinated ruby-colored beets and collard greens pesto. A little BABs Espresso Martini richened with brown butter Averna was the perfect ending to the showcase.
