Autre Ne Veut has always stretched and tore at his vocal chords to paint romantic tension and anxiety. On Age of Transparency the production becomes equally restless. “On and On (Reprise)” is a heavily jazz-inspired take on the original track that devolves into glitchy samples, violent electronics and strained vocal loops. More often than not, though, tracks manage not to sacrifice hooks. “World War Pt. 2”, for instance, surpasses its predecessor with its trap-like samples and clever chorus: “I don’t want it to be that you are not that missed and / everywhere you want to be is not there, face it.”
