Fox has confirmed that American Idol's next season (its fifteenth) will be its last.
The singing competition ruled airwaves quickly becoming one of the most successful television shows in American History. Launching the career of several Grammy and Academy Award winners, including: Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson. But in recent years, the show has been steadily declining in ratings and viewers losing out to other singing shows like The Voice.
The last season will celebrate American Idol's time on the network and will not have the extended airtime it has had in previous seasons.
