Can you confidently sing “Hello” to Lionel Richie? What about belting your lungs out to “Roar” in front of Katy Perry? Or strumming your guitar to a personal rendition of Luke Bryan’s “Play it Again”? If you’re feeling butterflies in your belly, it’s probably because you’re one step away from performing on the American Idol auditions stage! I’m here to give you the info, but the rest lays in your hands, feet, and, ultimately, your vocal cords. On July 20, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center open, auditions will take place for participants between the ages of 15 and 28. And if July is too late of a notice, show up and show out in Shreveport, Louisiana, on September 9. The second season of ABC’s American Idol’s competition set is said to premiere in January 2019. Here’s to seeing one of our very own New Orleanians representing us on the American Idol stage!
You can register in advance—and submit a casting video—on their website. All eligibility requirements and info can be found at www.abc.go.com/shows/american-
