Alt-J is a band that is far more epic live than on a recording. The drums are more pulsating, the synth is more misty, and the guitars more grinding: you are truly able to dissect the band into its different elements and appreciate how all of the instruments are able to stand strongly on their own. Alt-J's moody sound was made even more hypnotic by their accompanying light show, amplifying the experimental wave the folksy foursome dived deeper into on their recent sophmore effort, This Is All Yours.

A cool, unintended aftereffect of the band's lightshow was that it created a cool shadow mosiac of the crowd against the wall of the back bar throughout the show. Below is an Instagram clip:
The band's light show against the crowd caused a cool visual on the wall behind that bar. #AltJ #CivicTheater
