Evil Dead: The Musical - Evil Dead: The Musical

The time has come! The exhilarating countdown to one of New Orleans' most celebrated holidays includes events every night. People only complain that there's far too much to do. That's true, and here are some things that I recommend. I know that I post a lot about rock, punk, and metal shows, but if you were ever tempted to attend one, now is the time. The intense music is perfect for the season!

Rockin' in Central City; Smile Empty Soul performs at Hangar 13 with Acidic, The Breton Sound, Rise Laveau, and First Decree at 9 p.m. on Friday.

The Krewe of Boo rolls on Saturday after a yearlong hiatus. The full-on ghostly parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Elysian Fields Ave. and roll through the French Quarter down to its home at Mardi Gras World. Simultaneously and not too far away, the Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus is unveiling their latest creation called the Lunar Party Rover and parading it from Mickey Markey Park to the Krewe of MOMs Halloween Ball "Ship of Ghouls" at The Trash Palace on Frenchmen Street at 6 p.m.; entry is through the Frenchmen Art Market. The party features live tunes by Swampgrease and The Quickening. Costumes are mandatory, but I hope that you'd be wearing one anyway. It is pretty much Halloween, after all! Tickets to the ball are $30. Not to be outdone, one of our featured zombie krewes is leading a pack of non-local college-aged journalists through our spooky streets to give them a taste of what New Orleans during this holiday is all about. You can also join the Krewe of the Living Dead during their very special crawl at 7 p.m. in Woldenberg Riverfront Park where for one hour, the young writers will take quotes they hear, pick out the best, and then present them to the crowd. KOLD will then walk down the Moonwalk to lower Decatur Street, then on to Frenchmen where they will meet up with Chewbacchus at the MOMs Ball. Gravy Flavored Kisses and Social Set will take the stage at Le Bon Temps Roule at 11 p.m. for a free show. Bella Blue's Dirty Dime Peepshow presents its Halloween finest at Allways Lounge at midnight for $15.

Even with all the Saturday fun, you should try to get to bed early so you can wake up at noon and watch the Saints back after a bye week. This time, the refs will be on our side because we're home in the dome! I'll be celebrating at The Casualties with Negative Approach, Ossacrux, and Vaporats at 10 p.m. for $15.

Your very favorite intergalactic alien monster band GWAR is back again for their yearly show at House of Blues on Tuesday at 8 p.m. They are currently touring with Iron Reagan and likeminded monsters A Band of Orcs.

On Thursday, Halloween night of course, betwixt all of the house parties, Eyehategod is performing with their new drummer Dale Crover (from Melvins notoriety) at the House of Shock in Jefferson. The House of Shock offers a fantastic and free outdoor show with a full bar and food beginning at 8 p.m. The Swedish black metallers are back after many years at Siberia at 9 p.m. for $15. Along for this show is In Solitude and Tribulation, both from Sweden as well, and locals Abysmal Lord. And it's your last chance to see Evil Dead: The Musical at the Shadowbox Theater. The show is at 7 p.m. and tickets are $25, $30 for the splash zone.
