Mardi Gras Carnival Across the River
The highly anticipated Algiers Mardi Gras Festival will be back for Saturday, January 27. Families and those looking for Carnival fun on the Westbank of the Mississippi River are cordially invited to this completely free and fun filled festival.
The 4th annual festival will begin at 9 a.m. with an opening parade in the spirit of Mardi Gras. The parade will run one mile long and include marching band performances from Alice Harte, Martin Behrman, NOMMA, Edna Karr, L.B. Landry, and Mohawk Hunters Mardi Gras Indians. Irene Burrus, a 100-year-old Algiers native, will be honored as the Grand Marshal for the event. The day's entertainment will also include headlining performances by Brass-A-Holics, Louisiana Music Hall of Famer Amanda Shaw, Mia Borders, and more.
The day of festivities will continue on to include tons of incredible musical performances, classic fair food options, and a day of Mardi Gras fun for the whole family. The festival will run from the opening parade at 9 a.m. until wrapping up at 6 p.m.
