The Jefferson Chamber of Commerce is hosting Liberty at the
Lake, an Independence Day celebration with old-school—but socially distanced—drive-in
style fireworks at Bucktown Marina on July 2. While the COVID-19 pandemic has
kept many at home, this event will allow you to celebrate outdoors safely and
to enjoy live music by Bag of Donuts, as well as a Trunk Jam Fireworks Tailgate
Party before the main event of the fireworks show, at 8:15 p.m.
Local food and bar trucks will be parked onsite, with
concessions for purchase to support local businesses, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. But
you can also bring your own outside food and drinks. Registration for the event
will be drive-in movie theater-style, so each parking spot is available for
$25, including the vehicle and driver, plus $15 per passenger. Once all the
parking spaces have been reserved, additional vehicles won't be able to enter,
so make sure you get there on time and are parked by 7:30 p.m.
Social distancing is required for this event, and
precautions are being taken to mark lines for the food and bar trucks and the
bathrooms with six-foot spacing. Masks will also be required in common spaces,
and gathering in large groups or in front of the band is not allowed.
Online registration is available now and closes at 12 p.m.
on Wednesday, July 1, but there will be additional tickets for sale at the
event entrance, starting at 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 2.Proceeds from this event will go to the
public policy, advocacy, and quality-of-life initiatives of the Jefferson
Chamber of Commerce.
