This summer will be very exciting for movie and tv-show buffs as there will be a lot of filming going on, and many VIP in town. There will be a lot of production in New Orleans this summer, both of new seasons of existing series, and also entirely new projects. Take a look at some of the biggest projects being filmed in town:
Your Honor
Bryan Cranston, very well-known for his role as Walter White in Breaking Bad, will be starring in a 10-part Showtime series which takes place in New Orleans. Cranston will be playing the role of an important New Orleans Judge who is drawn into an intense battle involving his own son. A premier date has not been announced, however filming is set to begin in September of this year.
Bill and Ted Face the Music
Alex Winter and Keanu Reaves are once again back in their roles as Bill and Ted for yet another sequel to the 1989 film. Rapper Kid Cudi will also be playing a role in the film, and it's rumored to be a big one. Filming is scheduled to begin in the end of June and continue through August. Make sure to get a sneak peek at the filming, as the final movie won't be released until August 2020.
NCIS: New Orleans: Season 6
Scott Bakula returns again for his 6th season playing Dwayne Pride, head of the local naval investigation office. The rest of the cast, Lucas Black, Rob Kerkovich, CCH Pounder, and more are also set to return. As with the past, filming will be occurring this summer, with the first episode of Season 6 premiering on September 24th this year.
Blood Moon
Zac Efron will be taking part in "Blood Moon", a movie about a girl with dangerous powers who escapes a New Orleans mental hospital. The film is being directed by Ana Lily Amirpour, popular for her debut film A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night and award-winning The Bad Batch. According todeadline.com, "Blood Moon" also has an interesting soundtrack which ranges "From heavy metal to Italian techno". Production will be taking place until August 5th.
Queen of the South: Season 4
"Queen of the South" is returning for it's fourth season. Alice Braga will be back, playing her role of a woman who becomes a drug lord after her boyfriend is murdered. The first three seasons of the show were filmed in Dallas, Texas however the new season was filmed in New Orleans. Onlookers will be disappointed, however, as production has already ended. New episodes are currently airing.
Queen Sugar: Season 4
The drama series will be returning for its fourth season with the same stars: Kofi Siriboe, Rutina Wesley, and Dawn-Lyen Gardner. The show, following the estranged members of a Louisiana family, will be in production until July 18th. New episodes from season 4 are currently airing on OWN.
