Ninety teams enter, only one leaves as a champion. Hogs for the Cause is pleased to announce more than 90 BBQ teams will participate in the 11th annual charity event on Friday, March 29th and Saturday, March 30th at the UNO Lakefront Arena Grounds. Returning for a second year—Bacon Night presented by Nueske’s, welcomes teams to create and sell their own unique bacon dish, as well as serve BBQ samples. When the gates open on Friday night of Hogs for the Cause 2019, Nueske’s will have nearly two tons of bacon on site. Tickets to Nueske’s Bacon Night are $30 each.
Bacon Night dishes include everything from Face Bacon BBQ’ed Crab Cake, Bacon Pepper Jack Mac and Cheese Tots, Nueske’s Bacon Pâté with Bacon Fat Crostini and Encurtidas to Maple Bacon Glazed Donuts, Jumbo Lump Crab and Peppered Bacon Slider with Brie Cheese, and Hog Totchos. “This year, Bacon Night will have attendees porking out on pig, with more than 90 teams serving-up bacon-centric dishes,” states Becker Hall, Executive Director and Co-Founder of Hogs for the Cause. “Our sponsor, Nueske’s, generously provides the bacon for each team so they can compete for Best Bacon Dish of the night. And guests will not walk away thirsty either. We will offer a greater variety of beers, including nine draft beers and nine domestic beers, available in cans, at each of our bars.” Guests can expect draft beers from Bayou Teche, Founders, Gnarly Barley, Parish Brewing Co., Port Orleans, Tin Roof, and Urban South. Canned beer includes Gnarly Barley, Parish Brewing Co., Urban South, Bud Light, Budweiser, Michelob Ultra, and Stella Artois.
More than bacon will be on the menu—Ten bands across three stages will entertain, and "hogtails," beer, wine, soft drink, and more food will also be available for purchase. Hogs for the Cause uses only RFID wristbands for entry and food and beverage purchases. The RFID wristband serves as the ticket and digital wallet for each patron. Tickets are on sale now on the Hogs for the Cause website.
