Lake Superior State University - a higher education institution which I sarcastically assume needs no introduction - has published its annual list of banned words. Though many universities and organizations may share this practice, LSSU has kept this tradition - which began at a faculty New Year's Eve party in 1975 - alive for 40 years running.

Having received tens of thousands of nominations over the years amassing a cumulative list that now includes more than 800 entries, some of this year's gag-inducing turns of phrase that not only smite the Queen's English but make me personally want to punch those who use them in the face include:

  • Bae
  • Swag
  • Foodie (ugh...the worst!)
  • Cra-Cra
