By: Tiara Perrie

The Jazz and Heritage Concert Series is back this year at the George and Joyce Wein Jazz and Heritage Center at 1225 N Rampart Street on Dec. 9 and Dec. 16. This year's lineup included Detroit Brooks & The Syncopated Percolators on Dec. 9, and the talented Dixieland band Doreen's Jazz New Orleans on Dec. 16. Both shows are set to begin at 8 p.m. each night, and will include a free live stream on the Jazz & Heritage community radio station WWOZ 90.7 FM for those who don't want to miss one of the most anticipated Jazz performances of the year. The live stream can also be viewed on the Jazz & Heritage Center website, or on their Facebook page or Youtube channel.

Other Opportunities to Get Involved

In addition to the Concert Series, the Jazz and Heritage Center is also giving the people of New Orleans opportunities to become involved in a wide variety of ways. They are currently accepting applications for their Don "Moose" Jamison Heritage School of Music, an esteemed institution known for educating the next generation of great New Orleans musicians. The center is also accepting applications for food and craft vendors hoping to join the Treme Creole Gumbo and Congo Square Rhythms Festival festivities. If this wasn't enough, the Jazz and Heritage Center is also hosting a fellowship and volunteer photography program through the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation Archive.
