2018 Hurricane Season Expected to Be “Slightly Above-Average”

Forecasters at Colorado State University released their annual prediction regarding hurricane season and they expect a “slightly above-average” season according to a report released April 5. The researchers predict 14 named storms, seven of which will become hurricanes. Three of those hurricanes will become major hurricanes, category 3 storms or stronger.

The team’s 2017 report forecasted a “slightly below-average” hurricane season, but the season ended up as one of the strongest on record, ending with 17 named storms, including 10 hurricanes, six of which became major storms.
