Bar 1908 at Pythian Market Introduces New Head Bartender and New Autumn & Winter Cocktails

Since opening in May 2018, New Orleans’ downtown urban food collective Pythian Market has been wowing locals and visitors with creative cuisine from the market’s 13 vendors and fast-craft cocktails from Bar 1908. Recently appointed Head Bartender Victoria Abdelhady has just unveiled brand new libations perfect for the cooler climate and holiday season.

“Bar 1908 is the central gathering place at Pythian Market and all of the cocktails are meant to complement the vast food offerings from our vendors,” says owner Lisa Brefere. “Victoria’s creativity and expert technique make each of our beverages perfectly balanced and flavor-forward; she’s a great addition to our team!”

Originally from the Bronx New York, Abdelhady has been in the service industry since she was a teenager. Prior to joining the 1908 and Pythian Market team, she served as General Manager of Alto, the rooftop bar at New Orleans’ Ace Hotel. During her tenure, Alto was selected as one of the “Top Hotel Bars in the United States” by Tales of the Cocktail. As Pythian’s lead mixologist, Abdelhady works closely with ownership and management on the operations and programming with the goal of creating memorable craft cocktails, as well an immersive environment for all.

Abdelhady has just unveiled a selection of seasonal libations, just in time for the cooler months. Creative neo-classics include Wake Me Up Before You Geaux Geaux - brandy, chicory liqueur and house-made Edison’s espresso-cinnamon syrup served up in a coupe and topped with a dollop of cinnamon whipped cream; Summer Somewhere – jalapeño infused tequila, pineapple liqueur and lime served on the rocks with a chili-sugar-salt rim; and Harvest Moon – bourbon, aperol, ginger, lemon and bitters garnished with a rosemary sprig sourced from Pythian’s rooftop garden. New classics include the Last Word and Lion’s Tail, a warming concoction of bourbon, allspice dram, bitters and lime, garnished with star anise. Bar 1908 also features a selection of rotating frozen cocktails which are available in two sizes.

Bar 1908 is located at Pythian Market at 234 Loyola Avenue in New Orleans. Hours of operation are Sunday – Thursday 11AM – 9PM; Friday – Saturday 11AM – 10PM. Happy hour is daily 4PM – 7PM. For additional information, please visit pythianmarket.com.
