How Sweet It Is
Over the weekend, we
embarked on a delightful journey to Candyland and to the Chocolate Factory for
the 42nd annual Sugarplum Ball, presented by LEMOINE in support of Children's
Hospital New Orleans.
Under the theme of "How Sweet It Is,"
this year's festivities were a kaleidoscope of color and sweetness, featuring
delectable treats, lively decorations, candy-themed entertainment, live music,
and more.
Since its inception in
1981, this elegant affair has served as a cornerstone charity event, channeling
funds towards expanding the hospital's vital programs, cutting-edge technology,
and innovative healthcare delivery, all aimed at ensuring exceptional healthcare
for children from all walks of life.
Hosted at Mardi Gras
World, the Sugarplum Ball boasted a sumptuous array of culinary delights from
esteemed establishments such as Galatoire's Restaurant, Drago's, Dickie Brennan's,
Nirvana, and more. Complementing the theme, guests indulged in cotton candy
stations, a lavish chocolate fondue buffet, ice cream, coffee, and an abundance
of other sweet treats.
Beyond its festive
ambiance, the ball served as a heartfelt celebration of the generous donors and
supporters who contribute to the well-being of New Orleans' children. Attendees
eagerly participated in auctions featuring enticing items like staycations,
original artworks, theater tickets, and restaurant vouchers. The pinnacle of
the evening was the announcement of the winner of a $50,000 cash prize courtesy
of the Ray & Jessica Brandt Foundation, along with seven sets of four
tickets to Taylor Swift's upcoming October performance at the Caesar's
Superdome.
Indeed, the
Sugarplum Ball was a joyous occasion with a profound purpose. For those
