Superstar Post Malone is headlining the final night of Voodoo Fest 2019. The 24-year-old rapper, born Austin Post, is known for blending genres including hip hop, pop, and rock, and his incredibly unique vocal style. Post's music has actually been described as "a melting pot of country, grunge, hip-hop, and R&B". He was born in Syracuse, New York and raised in Grapevine, Texas. His initial introduction to music came from his father, who was a DJ, and exposed him to genres of music including rock, country, and hip hop. Post began to play the guitar and auditioned for the band "Crown the Empire" in 2009, but was rejected after his guitar strings broke during the audition. Shortly after, he began to experiment with hip-hop music. The rest is history.
Post Malone first attained recognition in 2015 following the release of his debut single "white Iverson" which peaked in the top 20 on the US Billboard Hot 100. He subsequently earned a recording contract with Republic Records. His debut album Stony, released in 2016, peaked at #4 on the US Billboard 200, and was eventually certified triple platinum, and featured the hit "Congratulations". Post's second album, Beerbongs and Bentleys, released in 2018, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, and broke several streaming records. The album received mixed reviews, but earned 4 Grammy Award nominations including Album of the Year. After releasing 3 successful singles, Post Malone released his third album, Hollywood's Bleeding, in September 2019.
The artist is performing once again at Voodoo Fest, and if you attended his 2017 performance, you know you're in for a treat.
