The Allstate “Fan Fest” leading up to the 2016 Allstate Sugar Bowl kicks off on Wednesday December 30 with a little football, a little social activism… and most importantly, Usher.  The world-renowned R&B icon is set to perform a free outdoor concert in the parking lot of Jax Brewery on Decatur Street, in the French Quarter, at 6:15 pm.  The Fan Fest is a two-day event with a wide range of activities, including a football clinic, a pep rally for each team, a New Year’s Eve parade, and a silent auction to raise money for various charitable organizations.  Usher, who is no stranger to worthy causes, made yet another philanthropic appearance in New Orleans at the Amnesty International USA’s “Art for Rights” exhibit a mere two weeks ago.

Usher’s concert Wednesday evening will be streamed live via Tidal.  All the events culminate with the big game on Friday January 1 at 7:30 pm, as Ole Miss and Oklahoma state face off in the Sugar Bowl at the Mercedez Benz Superdome.
