Broadside Theatre will be hosting its exclusive red-carpet premiere of Take Me to the River: New Orleans on Wednesday, April 20 at 6:45 p.m. Guests will enjoy the premiere as they learn about the city and appreciate its musical culture. There will also be a live concert and all sorts of food and beverages.
Produced and directed by Martin Shore, Take Me to the River: New Orleans is a tribute to one of the world's most unique cultural jewels--New Orleans. The documentary, the sequel to the franchise of the award-winning Take Me to the River, celebrates the city's musical DNA and its influence on the world. The film features New Orleans greats such as Ian Neville, George Porter Jr., Dr. John, Irma Thomas, and Big Freeda.
General admission costs $30, but it costs $125 for VIP tickets, which includes a patron party at 5:30 p.m. All proceeds will go to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation Don "Moose" Jamison Heritage School of Music, which provides free music education each week to students.
In addition, the film will be shown at Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas in New York and Los Angeles and Laemmle Theatresin Santa Monica and Glendale on Friday, April 29. Expected showings will include additional markets like Chicago, Memphis, Boston, and D.C.
