October is a big music month for New Orleans. We have Voodoo Fest at the end of the month and until then the city will be flooded with hundreds of acts from all over the world. How's a music junkie to pick and choose which shows to go to? Check out these five upcoming shows around town.

10/17 Ani DiFranco at House of Blues

Ani DiFranco is one righteous babe. The feminist icon has released more than 20 albums and has remained a staple in folk music for over 25 years. Since the start of her career, DiFranco has lent her voice to a broad range of social movements, performing at benefit concerts and speaking at rallies, backing various cultural and political organizations. The performance at the House of Blues on Oct. 17 will benefit the Innocence Project of New Orleans and Mid-Atlantic Innocence project. Both organizations fight to help those who sit in prisons for crimes they did not commit. Support the cause here.

10/22 Frameworks & Dreamers Delight at Gasa Gasa

Hailing from across the pond, UK producer Frameworks will perform at Gasa Gasa with special guest Dreamers Delight. The down tempo, hip-hop and organic house producer is set to release a brand new EP on Emancipator’s Loci Records. Inspired by the anticipation for the bird of his son, the Branches EP drops on November 20th.  Purchase your tickets here.

10/24 Mid City Masquerade at Studio 3

For one night, Studio 3 will transform into a mysterious masquerade, featuring a Mid-City medley of local talent, including Lost Bayou Ramblers, Sweet Crude, Young Buffalo, Blind Texas Marlin, and many more. Hide your identity; masks and costumes are encouraged! Purchase your tickets here.

10/24 Papadosio at House of Blues

Papadosio returns to New Orleans for their Extras in a Movie tour. With four studio length albums under their belt, the quintet is as mesmerizing as they are genre-defying. They isn’t something you can quite pinpoint; it’s a sonic melting pot of acoustic, electronic, psychedelic, and celestial sounds. An attempt at categorizing them as livetronica doesn’t do them justice.  You need to hear it for yourself. Purchase tickets here.

10/31 Earphunk at DBA

New Orleans progressive funk quintet is bringing Frenchmen Street another heater Nolaween set. Head to DBA this Halloween and catch Earphunk for a night of PHUNKY debauchery. This show is a huge underplay that’ll provide fans a chance to catch them in a unique, intimate setting. There are no presale tickets available, so be sure to get there early!
