Friends don’t let friends eat imported seafood. –Poppy Tooker
Chef Slade Rushing from Brennan’s Restaurant gave a cooking demo Thursday night at the Southern Food and Beverage Museum, in the first in a series of Celebrity Chef Dinners. Guests came out to the Rouses Culinary Innovation Center by Jenn-Air in the back of the museum to watch the “how to” presentation by Rushing, before being allowed to sample his work in the form of a three-course dinner. Rushing taught guests how to make some of his famous dishes: Egg Yolk Carpaccio, French Market Coffee Crusted Pork Loin and Bananas Foster. The event was sponsored by Poppy Tooker and her Louisiana Eats! crew, as well as French Market Coffee, which was featured throughout the evening as both ingredient and beverage. Bin 428 provided wine pairings, and the money raised will go to support the museum.
