Knuckle Post - Knuckle Post

This weekend was incredibly fun. After watching a wonderful Saints game at Rock N' Bowl, where I had delicious Louisiana grass-fed beef chili served in a bag of Zapp's Chips, I had an even better time dancing the night away to the sound of Clockwork Elvis and and watching go go dancing by the Billion Dollar Babydolls for Elvis's birthday. The movie Knuckle was a great documentary, bloody and brutal, but it was interesting to learn about these traveling, brawling families. I suggest catching it this week at Zeitgeist. Other than films, there are quite a few good rock concerts coming up.

Wednesday might have one of the more extreme lineups. Crust punk band from North Carolina No Tomorrow performs with local punk bands The Pallbearers and Crotchbreaker at Siberia in the Bywater. It's a good value at $5. Local rock bands are taking over One Eyed Jacks on Toulouse Street in the French Quarter on Friday night. The bluesy rock/metal band Suplecs headlines a show with the instrumental groove rock band Mountain of Wizard. The cover is $10.

Saturday will be our home team's second playoff game against San Francisco. The match begins at 3:30, so you'll have the whole early evening and night to celebrate. Shortly after the game, you should see the photo exhibit at the Good Children Gallery on 4037 St. Claude Ave. Hard Art DC 1979 is a collection of photos from the Washington DC hardcore punk scene by Lucian Perkins from 6 to 9 in the evening. Down the street later that night, Siberia will have an after party featuring varied bands from punk to black metal; Die Rotzz, Vapo Rats, Gasmiasma and Classhole. If you'd rather stay in central city, Donkey Puncher, Sheeple, and Hanging are playing at Banks St. Bar at 10 p.m. And there is no cover charge.
