On Saturday Oct. 1, a new nightlife combination called “Laugh and Chill” kicked off what will become the first many that includes both comedy and music. The event was held at Studio City 233 off Newton Street and managed by Brandon Herbert. 233 not only has become a popular spot for various events but it will play host to the “Laugh and Chill” nights for now.

CEO of Next Level Management , Mike B, and his team  put together a showcase that featured music from “Y.O.U.” singer Avant and comedian/actor Pierre Edwards from movies like “Baps” with Halle Berry, “How to be A Player” with Bill Belamy and more.

Other acts that preceded Avant and Edwards were B Streezy, who sang his single “You are The One” and a medley of covers, comedian Mario P, music from DJ Polo 504, a live band and more. Edible treats served during the Happy Hour included Chef Tasha from Seasons of Louisiana Catering to which we recommend trying the Crawfish Spinach Dip and owner Greg Tillery of We Dats Chicken & Shrimp who has been consistent community giver off the popularity of his business. The food from both companies fit the theme well and didn’t omit an ounce of good taste in addition to drinks. Appearances from City Councilmember Nadine Ramsey and Q93.3’s Wild Wayne were also in attendance.

No less, Avant dished out hits such as “Separated,” “Lie About Us” which featured PCD front woman Nicole Scherzinger, “My First Love” and other notable hits.  Edwards’s comedic act included crude jokes regarding the sexual landscape of the male climate in the city of Atlanta, bedroom antics between men and women and of course, a question that plagues the mind of many fans who are addicted to A&E’s “The First 48” — why in the world is New Orleans always a city featured on the show?

The duo kept fans engaged and overall, gave each patron the satisfaction thoroughly complementing the ticket price. Mike B, Weebie, Jonathan Thomas of Ascension Branding and Marketing, Herbert and all involved parties helped launch a successful night to add on to the NOLA celebrity entertainment scene.

“Laugh and Chill” brought forth a diverse crowd with a common interest for laughter, music, food and fellowship which New Orleans is culturally known to bring. The organization wasn’t chaotic, very much in tact, in terms of professionalism resulting in perhaps a new addition to one’s bucket list for urban entertainment.

Gary Owen and “I Wish “crooner Carl Thomas are next in line for “Laugh and Chill” scheduled for Nov. 5 at the same venue. If you missed the first one, no worries. You can purchase tickets at TicketFly.com.
