Only eight days into the New Year, NOLA nightlife will never cease to be a moment of enjoyment, drinks, music or fashion.

Event and party entrepreneur Larry Morrow teams up again with “The Breakfast Club’s” Angela Yee for their fourth annual All Black Birthday Affair. The star studded event will feature guests such as Rick Ross, reality star Tahiry, Justin Combs, Kenny Burns and music by DJ Envy.

Tickets start as low as $50 dollars and can be purchased here. It’s definitely a night not to be missed especially if you skipped out on going to a New Year’s Eve party. Now the question is – what are some creative ideas for your wardrobe?

8.16 owner, stylist and designer, Josh Smith, gave his take for the fellas to consider a more unconventional fashion route while introducing the Urban Tux from his current collection. Check out his thoughts and advice for pulling off a short suit despite the versatility during the New Orleans climate:

Menswear has taken a tailored approach across the spectrum of street style. The Short Suit has been an international street style staple for years now. Going into spring this will become a more commercial look for the masses. A fashion enthusiast is very familiar with seeing a blazer paired with matching shorts outside a Pitti Ummo, Paris Fashion Week and on the runway.

I can see people like Asap Ferg, Odell Beckham and Luke James pulling this off whether it’s shirtless, with a simple white-t or a classic button down. The variations are simple yet unique, print-on-print, monochromatic, or mix-and-match. Google ‘short suit’ and images of Pharrell and Nick Wooster will flood the image tab. Pharrell Williams rocked an all-black version at the Oscars in 2014 which was instantly captivating on the red carpet.

I can see someone being ultra-risky wearing this to Larry Morrows and Angela Yee’s All Black Birthday Affair next week. Sure it might be cold but its New Orleans where the weather changes every day. 8.16 offers a print-on-print version conspicuously called the ‘Urban Tux.’ Clever and effective! Good examples of this silhouette are frequently created by designers like Thom Browne season after season. So hop on the wave now and invest time in doing some research on the Short Suit. Better yet just wear a Short Suit to the black party next weekend.
