The most
wonderful time of the year has moved to July. Disney World has made arrangements
to attempt to open their doors July 11 for guests to experience the magic.
However,
it's not as simple as we might think. On May 27, Disney submitted a proposal to
the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force in Florida that explains their
plans for reopening Walt Disney World Resort theme parks on July 11.
"Pending
Orange County and state approval, our Walt Disney World Resort proposal plans
for Magic Kingdom Park and Disney's Animal Kingdom to begin a phased reopening
to the general public on July 11, followed by EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood
Studios on July 15," Thomas Smith, editorial content director, said.
Precautions
such as limiting attendance, restricting events that draw large crowds (parades
and spectaculars), and removing high-touch experiences like makeovers and meet-and-greets,
are, of course, being put in place for the safety of guests.
New
systems to limit the guests in the parks are in order for use. Guest must have
a reservation to enter the park, and Disney is pausing new ticket sales, as
they are focusing on guests with existing reservations. More details on ticket purchases
will be available soon.
For safety,
health precautions such as temperature checks and required face masks will be
put in place.
More
information on policies for the reopening is coming soon, as they await approval
of their pending proposal. In the meantime, placing an order for Disney-themed
masks seems like a good idea.
