Man Reappointed to County Board Despite Dying 2 Years Ago

16:07 January 31, 2015

There’s the old adage that “the only good politician is a dead politician.” And it seems Fayette County Commissioners have taken that saying to heart when they reappointed Larry Markwood to the industrial authority board despite the fact that he had died two years ago.

It seems that officials never tried checking in with Markwood, who died in 2012, before reappointing him.

“We will be smarter next time,” Chairman Vincent Zapotosky told the Pittsburgh Tribune Review.

The industrial authority has not met since 2012. “We really didn't have much to do,” Authority Solicitor Ernest DeHaas said. In fact, some members of the board claim to have never met Markwood, or any of their fellow co-workers.

A job that doesn’t meet for two years? Where can I sign up?
