Gnocchi at Compère Lapin
Top Chef fan favorite and runner-up (“She was robbed!”), Nina Compton, has opened a new restaurant in the Warehouse District, located within the Old No. 77 Hotel and Chandlery. Nina was born in St. Lucia, trained under French and Italian chefs, and moved to New Orleans from Miami when she fell in love with our city while filming Top Chef. Her cooking is a melting pot of all of the above influences and flavors. Nina refers to herself as “The Gnocchi Queen”, and you will see these soft pillows of goodness appear more than once on her menu. Try the plantain gnocchi in her curried goat entrée, for a Caribbean flair. Or, opt for a side order of polenta gnocchi mixed in with corn and caramelized onion, and just a touch of sweetness. Either way I guarantee you will love it…more than you gnocchi.
