Annual Celebration in the Oaks Marks the Beginning of the Holiday Season
The beauty of City Park will now be lit up with holiday lights for viewers to “ooh” and “ahh” and gaze upon in amazement. Celebration in the Oaks has coined itself “The Most Spectacular Holiday Lights Festival in the Country” and proves it, with over half a million LED bulbs shining brightly, and more than 100,000 visitors coming to gaze at the decor. The Celebration is hosting a Preview Party, a Jingle Bells and Beer event, a Family Party, and tours of the park.
The Celebration in the Oaks Preview Party is a spectacular celebration that gives viewers the first glance at the decorations along with exclusive access to the Botanical Garden and amusement park. The event gives audiences the opportunity to be among the first to receive inspirational holiday decoration ideas, or to snap that perfect holiday selfie for your Christmas cards, at this extraordinary event. The preview party will feature five live music stages and food from 50 local restaurants and caterers. The party is on November 20 from 7:30 to 11pm. Tickets are $100/person in advance; $120/person day of event; Friends of City Park members: $90/person. This event calls for cocktail attire and requires attendees to be 21 and up. Alcohol will be served the entire night.
If the preview party is a bit too formal for you, then Jingle Bells and Beer may be your cup of tea… or rather, pint of beer. On November 21, NOLA Brewing presents Jingle Bells and Beer for the “young adults- and those young at heart!” Throughout the night guests can sample craft beers, food and drinks from local vendors, and enjoy unlimited rides at the amusement park and live local bands. Safety is encouraged when it comes to drinking and riding the rides. Make sure Jingle Bells and Beer stays fun by drinking responsibly. The event is from 7-10 pm and is $35 for City Park members, $40 in advance for the general public, and $45 the day of the event.
The Celebration in the Oaks Family Party allows children to come and enjoy a fun-filled event that will make nap time come early. On November 22, parents can sit back, relax and watch their kids having unforgettable holiday fun from 6-8:30 pm. With admission, the little ones can take advantage of unlimited rides at the amusement park, kid-friendly finger food and live entertainment. This entertainment includes balloon clowns, an airbrush tattoo artist, stilt walkers, a DJ and more. For members of City Park, tickets are $25, and for general admission it’s $30 in advance. Children under two will receive free admission.
Tours of Celebration in the Oaks will be available from November 27 thru January 2, from 6-10 pm Sundays thru Thursdays, and 6-11 pm Fridays and Saturdays. Celebration in the Oaks makes for a perfect date, family outing, or even just a nice walk with friends. Trains and rides will be open all night until an hour before closing. Tickets for the tour are free for City Park members and children under three. General admission runs you $8, while train rides are $5, each amusement park ride is $4, and an unlimited ride wristband is $18.
