Talk about creepy next door neighbors. One family in Los Angeles has been illegally keeping an cat eating alligator as a pet since the 1970s.

Animal Control Officers are conducting a full criminal investigation and are asking nearby residents to disclose any information about missing pets for the last forty years, as the the gator was found in a closed box next to two cat carcasses.

The police have been trying to nab the reptile ever since last year, when they received a tip that there was a possible eight foot large alligator in the neighborhood.

As of yet, no arrests have been made. But the previous owners have had to say ‘see ya later, alligator’ to their favorite pet as it has been shipped off to the Los Angeles Zoo.
