Baru Bistro and Tapas is a Latin-Caribbean bistro featuring small plates and an impressively extensive wine list. Baru has just rolled out their new Fall/Winter menu, with tempting new dishes such as chupe de quinoa, a butternut squash and quinoa chowder mixed with sweet corn, bacon and potatoes; and fideua negra, tender gulf fish with local blue crab and Gulf shrimp, served aside fideo pasta in squid ink. To satisfy your sweet tooth, this Garden District hotspot has a passion fruit crème brulée made with Madagascar vanilla, and topped with fresh berries and coconut.
This past week, Baru debuted their new menu at a six-course wine pairing dinner event. Several hungry folks came out to indulge in delicious cuisine prepared by executive chef Edgar Caro, accompanied by wine meticulously chosen by sommelier Brian Fuller.
