New Orleans is known as the place for partying, music, and fun. Bourbon is enriched in the nightlife scene with the daiquiri shops and hand grenades you can purchase at Tropical Isle. Festivals and parades are endless, finding a new one every month. Famous ones including Crawfish festival, Gumbo festival, and Beer festival make your mouth salivate at the thought and now we have a festival that makes the people want to groove and move their feet. The Bear Creek Bayou Festival is making their inaugural debut in New Orleans at Mardi Gras World. This two-day event floods the individual with high levels of funk music with New Orleanian traditions as well as having a little tropical twist.

The Bear Creek Bayou festival was originally hosted in Live Oak, Florida at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park. Artists performed for eight years and after the 2015 festival, the owners thought it was time to move on and try another venue. And what better place is that than the party city, New Orleans. During the 2015 festival artists included Galactica, Soulville, and Dumpstaphunk; some of these artists will be returning to the festival to perform in Mardi Gras World alongside new artists in the line-up. The Mardi Gras World is a beautiful venue for a day of music, food, and the enjoyment of others appreciating the Funk. The complex sits alongside the banks of the Mississippi river with views of the New Orleans skyline and is also known as the place where the famous Mardi Gras floats are made.

The event takes place from September 30th to October 1st, but if you want to get the party started early, there is a pre-party at the Joy Theater on September 29th, giving you a glimpse of the artists that will brace the stage. Some artists include Pirate’s Choice, Naughty Professor featuring Chali 2Na, and OG GAT. Tickets are on sale on the Bear Creek Bayou Festival website and range from $149 to $400 dollars. If you want to be fancy and be a part of the VIP crowd, the price is not an arm and a leg, but be willing to spend $400 dollars for you and your partner, and that’s without the price of parking. For parking bring an extra $10 so your vehicle can be safe and sound while you party and enjoy yourself. The pre-party tickets range from $40 to $110 and that party starts at 8:00pm and continues until your feet hurt or you have lost your voice, which I hope is midnight because that’s when they are shutting down.

If you are a vendor and want to get your name out there, here is your chance, go on the website and apply to be a part of this thrilling and eventful festival. So if your establishment makes the best gumbo or the best snowballs, apply so other people can enjoy all the delicious food. Tickets are on sale now but remember sales are final and it will happen no matter rain or shine, so if it rains bring your favorite umbrella and colorfully rain boots. The owners have promised and vowed that the Old Bear Creek headliners will be performing but the festival will produce a rich and promising menu of traditional sounds of New Orleans. So party goers, food lovers, and funk dances prepare yourself for the new festival hitting New Orleans, the Bear Creek Bayou Festival.
