** out of ****

Denzel Washington is a DEA agent and Mark Wahlberg is a naval intelligence officer and they are both so deep undercover that neither knows the others true identity. They just think each other is one of the bad guys they need to partner up with to complete their ruse. The reason for the undercover mission is to infiltrate a drug cartel. However, the two men must learn to trust each other when they are both framed following a bank robbery.

2 Guns has a lot going for it. Washington and Wahlberg have an easy chemistry between them, the gorgeous Paula Patton gets topless, Bill Paxton, as one of several villains, steals every scene he's in, and my friend Azure Parsons delivers a fine performance as Waitress Maggie. But the screwy, overly complex plot sinks it. There is no reason for it to be so convoluted. And why so many villains? It also doesn't help that the action scenes are rather bland. The big action finale is like a muted version of the exciting conclusion to Extreme Prejudice (1987).

2 Guns runs on star power and nothing else, which makes it watchable if not memorable.
