ZZ Top at Bold Sphere Music

ZZ Top rolled into New Orleans’ Champion Square Thursday night, September 3rd to deliver a show filled with back-to-back classic hits.  The band launched right out the gate with “Got Me Under Pressure,” then went right into “Waitin for the Bus.” Throughout the eventing the trio delivered a greatest hits set list that captured everything from “Give Me All Your Lovin” to “Legs.”  Despite the threat of thunder storms, the outdoor event turned into a breezy concert under the stars.

In spite of their commercial success over the past three decades, little has changed in both ZZ Top’s sound and appearance.  Still donning their foot long beards and furry guitars, the two front men Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill rocked for approximately two hours without stopping to even adjust their “cheap” sunglasses.  The trio ended the show by performing an encore consisting of “LaGrange," topped off by “Tush.”  This forty-six year old rock band has still got a few tricks up their sleeves, creating a live performance that rivals any of today’s over-produced pop concerts.
