Hands Together
Self-Released

New York City’s new indie-bluegrass-rock band, Spirit Family Reunion, on their second album, Hands Together, nearly outdoes its first self-titled album. Spirit has everything: washboard percussion, tapping feet, guitars, fiddles, banjos, tub bass, and those vocals that tie-in the ensemble. The opening track entitled “Wake, Up Rounder!” puts pep in your step with some mean banjo balanced with that folk, bluegrass, country, and rockability, the latter combination of sounds is what makes them so unique.

Upbeat tracks like “All The Way Back Home” and “Keep it Turning” will satisfy the needs of some uppity grooves. Somber songs, such as “How I Long to Take that Ride” and “Don’t be a Liar,” and their sophistication, maturity. And their growth truly resides on the track, “Wait for Me.” Overall Hands Together is a great sophomore album full of diversity and harks back to CCR, which they recently covered a song for a tribute album to. Their hands are truly together.
