Silicon Valley Season 2, Episode 4 “The Lady”

This episode did not quite follow up with the laughter that was found in the last episode, “Bad Money.” Erlich, during a board meeting with Russ Hanneman and his wife, allows Russ to spend more money ($30,000) on “swag” for Pied Piper. The rest of the gang thinks about the new hiring of new tech specialists, but are skeptical.

The main point of this episode is honestly the tie-in with the title, “The Lady.” It takes a look at the lack of females in the tech industry, besides the highly intelligent, but business honcho, Monica.  As a result, we are introduced to the new coder who is aptly named “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,” aka Carla Walton.

This episode really is about women being equal to men, which is perfectly fine, awesome, and accurate, but it doesn’t tie into the beginning of the episode and does not make the character(s) seem humorous. This episode is flat. Diversity is one thing, but Silicon Valley needs to go back to the solidarity of comedy that helped propel the show to a second season.
