We’re getting so close to the biggest music festival in New Orleans; the Jazz and Heritage Festival at the Fairgrounds featuring incredible local and international acts. But until next weekend, you have some time to kill. Here are some events that will make that downtime go by a little faster.

The host of the hit show “Bar Rescue” will be signing books at one of the businesses he helped turn around on Friday from 7:30-9:30 p.m.; Jon Taffer will appear at Spirits on Bourbon: Home of the Resurrection, formerly Turtle Bay. Jon Taffer’s book entitled “Raise the Bar: An Action-Based Method for Maximum Customer Reactions” teaches the reader about wowing potential customers to make them long-term fans and frequenters. The event is free and open to the public. Each person who buys a signed book will get a free Resurrection cocktail. Head out of the Quarter and into the Bywater to see the ladies of The Unnaturals, Terranova, and the men of Norco Lapalco perform at Siberia at 10 p.m.

The WYAT staff will be checking out the luxurious new lounge V Sushi and Martini just off Bourbon Street on Iberville Street on Saturday, but there are some other fun events going on. The Bunnies are coming! The annual costumed event entitled the Nola Bunarchy Crawl will take place beginning at 6 p.m. at Marie’s Bar. The crawl will wind through the Bywater/Marigny from Mimi’s in the Marigny, the St. Roch Tavern, Allways Lounge, the Blue Nile, and end at the Dragon’s Den. You can purchase a pass for $10 at FunRockn on Decatur Street or at the event itself. You’ll see bunnies of all kinds, but participants must at least wear bunny ears. Proceeds benefit the Ark Animal Rescue.

In honor of the upcoming season, surf legend Dick Dale performs with local surf legends The Unnatural at the Howlin’ Wolf on Wednesday night at 9 p.m. for $25. Surfboards aren’t required.
