Whimsical Jesters with Big Clown Energy

Les Fous du Carnaval is returning to its same parade route for the third year in a row, parading through the French Quarter and the Marigny, this January 19 starting at 8 p.m.

The theme is Big Clown Energy, so jesters, clowns, kings, queens, and peasants are warmly invited to join in for a Carnival night of jest and jovial celebration.

The parade will include expectedly elaborate costumes, hand-made throws, and possibly even some tricks sprung on the watching crowds by the festive marchers. The route will begin on the corner of Frenchman and Decatur, continuing down Frenchman. From there, it will go onto Royal, then St. Philip, then back onto Decatur. It will finally move down to end in Jackson Square.

Les Fous du Carnaval is made up of several unique inner krewes including Krewe of Goddesses, Flora & Fauna, and Krewe of Hellarious Wingnuts. A new addition this year's parade will be The Legendary Order of the Casket Girls. These jesters are united in having each krewe have an equal say in the parade planning and a unified commitment to making participating in Carnival festivities equitable and accessible to all.
