A highlight issue for the Louisiana Legislature’s spring lawmaking session has been announced: medical marijuana.

According to NOLA.com, medical marijuana will be back on the table during the Louisiana Legislature’s spring lawmaking session.

Rep. Dalton Honore, D-Baton Rouge, has presented a bill that would allow for the dispensing and distribution of marijuana for medical purposes. Honore supports this bill by saying the polls show 80 percent of Louisiana residents in favor of medicinal marijuana.

Last year, Honore and Sen. Fred Mills, R-New Iberia, proposed similar legislation only to see the proposal shut down in the Senate Health and Welfare Committee.

For those hopeful to see medical marijuana in Louisiana, keep your hopes high.
