Camp SoulGrow, a non-profit, donation-based enrichment workshop camp for all kids—set to open in New Orleans in March of 2018—is hosting its second fundraiser party at MoPho Restaurant in Mid-City New Orleans on the evening of Martin Luther King Day. Come celebrate the launch of Camp SoulGrow New Orleans at MoPho (514 City Park Ave.) and help Camp SoulGrow thrive and offer unlimited enriching opportunities for kids. The party will take place on Monday, January 15, from 5-8 p.m. With the free admission, adults will enjoy complimentary cocktails, specialty hors d’oeuvres by MoPho Restaurant, auction prizes, and tons of SoulGrow Gear to help raise money for the growing non-profit. And the party isn’t just for adults. Kids will have their own space to make MoPho food, POOF Cotton Candy, and Camp SoulGrow Creative Collectibles (sort of a preview of the workshops). Also, 15 percent of all dine-in service at MoPho from 3-9 p.m. on January 15 will benefit Camp SoulGrow New Orleans. Bringing the community together in a fun and creative way to better the lives and expand the horizons of all kids is what Camp SoulGrow is all about.
Camp SoulGrow is a 501(c)(3) no-fee, donation-operated, volunteer workshop camp offering creative learning experiences and adventures for a wide variety of kids. It inspires them and helps them develop the confidence to follow their dreams by utilizing community artists and local businesses as their mentors. Camp SoulGrow offers open arms, strictly donation-based workshops to eliminate financial burdens and social pressures from children and families while creating an equal platform for kids to come together. These enlightening, educational opportunities help children to figure out what they like and who they are, as well as affording opportunities to make new, diverse groups of friends from varied socioeconomic backgrounds.
Since being founded in July of 2014, Camp SoulGrow has opened three locations, bought and painted a 23-passenger bus, and conducted over 463 no-fee workshops. They have helped over 775 kids disengage from technology and experience healthy, fun activities that help them learn new passions, gain confidence, inspire hope, meet new friends, and feel united with their community.
The children of Camp SoulGrow get to do and not just dream. Given the diversity of the camp’s curriculum, children are able to explore new interests, learn to be open-minded, find things they never knew they were good at, build confidence to be creative and independent thinkers, and make unconventional friendships and connections to last a lifetime. We connect people to inspire children and show them their power. Camp SoulGrow is more than just a camp; we are a platform for all people to grow together through giving, sharing, and learning, to build a better future for everyone!
