Organizers of Bayou Country Superfest announced today that the 2017 Superfest, scheduled for Memorial Day weekend, May 26 – 28, will be held at the world-famous Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, LA.  The 2017 event will be the eighth edition of the Superfest, which previously took place at LSU Tiger Stadium, but due to renovations scheduled at the stadium, the popular Festival has arrived at this dynamic new location for the event.

Quint Davis, Producer/Director of the Superfest, said, “We are excited to announce that the Louisiana Memorial Day Weekend tradition that is Bayou Country Superfest is going under the Dome in New Orleans!  When we started the Bayou Country Superfest, our goal was to create one of the great country music celebrations in America and grow it into an annual holiday tradition for Louisiana.  The large scale stadium-type festival we all loved in Tiger Stadium, which is not available to host the event, will make a triumphant move to the only other facility in the state that equals Tiger Stadium as a world-renowned sports and entertainment venue—the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.”

The three-day Superfest will begin with a kick-off outdoor evening concert celebration on Friday, May 26 in Champions Square, which will be free and open to the public, followed by two huge nights of performances on Saturday and Sunday (May 27 and 28) in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on a spectacular stage by some of the biggest names in country music.  Champions Square will also be the site of the Festival’s daytime Fan Fest on Saturday and Sunday.  The full talent lineup and ticket information for the Bayou Country Superfest will be announced on December 1.

“Over the past eight years, Bayou Country Superfest has become a Louisiana tradition, bringing together family, friends and neighbors looking to share a good time over great music and entertainment. I am excited that next year’s Superfest will take place at the Superdome, a world-class venue that attracts premier acts from around the globe and serves as a critical economic boon for the local and state economy. I look forward to seeing the festival grow and change over the years to come as families from across the South continue making Louisiana home for this great weekend every year,” said Gov. John Bel Edwards.

Mayor Mitch Landrieu said, “Bayou Country Superfest will be right at home in the mega festival landscape of New Orleans.  The talent in our city is unmatched in promoting, producing and hosting large-scale events like no other in the country. We are thrilled to add this exciting festival to our growing calendar.”

“We are delighted to have Bayou Country Superfest remain in Louisiana this coming year and hope to host this amazing concert series for years to come,” said Lieutenant Governor Nungesser. “We are thankful that partners across the State came together to support this event because it brings so much exciting talent and thousands of people from all over to enjoy the best of Louisiana.”

“We could not be more thrilled to have Bayou Country Superfest join our line-up of incredible events and festivals that make New Orleans a world-class destination. We are well known for our unique culture including all genres of music. Adding this event reinforces our reputation as a city known for great music as it diversifies the various types of music found here. I can’t think of a better way to kick-off summer than by spending Memorial Day Weekend in New Orleans enjoying the comfort and service of our exceptional hotels, dining in our renowned restaurants and experiencing an all-star country music line-up in the iconic Mercedes-Benz Superdome,” said Stephen Perry, President & CEO of the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau.

‘We are ecstatic to welcome the Bayou Country Superfest to New Orleans for the Memorial Day weekend,” said Mark Romig, president and CEO of the New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation (NOTMC). “Not only are we able to see this iconic festival of country music remain in Louisiana and find a home at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, we also get to kick off our important summer tourism season in a grand way. Our state and city, along with our hotels and restaurants and numerous attractions will benefit greatly from economic impact from the citizens and visitors who will spend their dollars in our region.  We wish to extend a very special thank you to our partners at AEG, Festival Productions, SMG, the State of Louisiana, the City of New Orleans and New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau for working together to make this a reality.”

“We are delighted that the Mercedes-Benz Superdome has been selected to host the first-ever Bayou Country Superfest taking place in New Orleans,” said Alan Freeman, SMG General Manager of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. “The Superdome is a premier destination for world-class events, offering visitors access to over 35,000 hotel rooms within walking distance and 7,000 on-site parking spaces. The SMG-managed Superdome anchors a sports and entertainment district that attracts 5 million visitors a year. We look forward to welcoming fans attending the Bayou Country Superfest to our iconic stadium."
