According to Nola.com, New Orleans is now in the front of the race to host the entirety of the NBA All-Star Weekend, including the All-Star Game on Feb. 19, revisiting the last All-Star Game that was hosted in New Orleans in 2014.

The NBA ultimately decided to take All-Star Weekend out of Charlotte, North Carolina, due to their lack of response in altering their “discriminatory legislation”.

The law demands that transgender people use public toilets based on the gender listed on their birth certificate, not by the gender they see themselves as.  The law also leaves LGBT people out of state anti-discrimination protections, prohibits local governments from expanding LGBT protections, and doesn’t allow any workplace discrimination issues inside state courts.

A formal announcement removing All-Star Weekend from Charlotte is expected to come this week.
